Last Thursday, our clinic staff and attendings held an end of the year ice cream & paint party for the residents. Delicious ice cream and toppings were accompanied by guided painting of beautiful landscapes by our BRG Arts in Medicine team. The resulting works of art look great and we can’t wait to display them in the Mid City Medicine Clinic to share with our patients. Nice job, y’all!

A belated congrats are in order to PGY 3 Martin Binesh, PGY 2 Chenna Nalabolu, PGY 1 Bilal Saiyed for their victory in the septris tournament on July 14th.
After a brief refresher on sepsis and an update on the recent publication of Sepsis III (JAMA Sepsis 3) residents competed in teams to see who could score highest while playing the Stanford designed and computer based Septris. If you haven’t tried it, you should (but beware, it’s addicting) Stanford’s Septris Game.
Congrats guys! (the trophy is solid gold…colored)
So many members of our Baton Rouge Community and Baton Rouge General Family have been devastated by the flooding. The photos above are from the medical shelter which was set up at our MidCity Campus and operational 24 hours a day during the height of the flooding. Spearheaded by our Program Director Dr. Banda, the shelter was staffed in part by our residents Dr. Aaron DeWitt, Dr. Rahul Kurapati, Dr. Trey Ruggiero, Dr. Chenna Nalabolu and our Family Medicine colleagues Dr. Michelle Becnel and Dr. Lauren Pitre. Thank you for your service!
Although this has been devastating, community spirit like this will help us recover. Our thoughts are with all those affected by the flooding. #BRStrong
